Out today in Mol Micro Editors: Inhibition of PQS signaling by the Pf bacteriophage protein PfsE enhances viral replication in P aeruginosa doi.org/10.1111/mmi.15… With our 🇨🇦 friends Eric Déziel and Karen Maxwell

I am thrilled to share our work on a novel prophage-encoded phage defence from Karen Maxwell: Anti-phage defence through inhibition of virion assembly nature.com/articles/s4146…

This is definitely one of the longest running projects in the lab b/c we were stuck in a trap of thinking about Sie proteins blocking competing phages. But wasn't a satisfying answer to fit the biology we observed - kudos to Véronique Taylor for persevering and figuring it out!

Congratulations to U of T Public Health postdoc fellow @michelle_olding on receiving the 2024 EPIC Career Transition Award to lead an independent project looking at the role of prescribed safer supply programs in improving access to HIV and HCV care! Read more: bit.ly/45x0Quk

Rare opportunity to join my team, as the PLOS Biology in-house editorial team is growing! It's a great team in a great journal, if I say so myself 😆 Please reach out if your have Qs & apply if interested!! UK or US; assoc or senior Please RT us241.dayforcehcm.com/CandidatePorta…

We are ready to go for the Annual SPP2330 Meeting on “New Concepts in Prokaryotic Virus-host Interactions”! With a fantastic line up of speakers: Alexander Harms Alexander Harms, Karen Maxwell Karen Maxwell, Samuel Kilcher Samuel Kilcher, and Mathias Middelboe Mathias Middelboe

Julia Frunzke FrunzkeLab opening the annual New Concepts in Prokaryotic Virus-Host Interaction meeting! Looking forward to 3 exciting days of science! DFG public | @[email protected]

This was a wonderful meeting New Concepts in Prokaryotic Virus-Host Interaction again! Great kick-off of our second funding period! Amazing science going on in the phage field and great to see students/postdocs from the first funding period starting their independent labs. We’re here at Women's College Hospital for the #GairdnerScienceWeek Women of Gairdner Event! High school students, researchers and local faculty are here with 2024 Canada Gairdner Award laureates Drs. Meghan Azad, Gagandeep Kang, and 2022 #GairdnerAwards winner Dr. Deborah Cook Watch the

🚨New preprint from our lab! We map the RNA interactions in E. coli infected by lambda, revealing an RNA-driven regulatory layer in phage-host dynamics. We find a phage-encoded sRNA hijacking host replication machinery, impacting the phage cycle.#microbiology #phages Regulating with RNAs in Bacteria and Archaea
