I am not sure when it happened, been a hectic few weeks π β but The Icon Block is now being used on 3,000 websites. π Looking for a #WordPress product to build or a fun side project, custom niche blocks are a great place to start.
One year ago, I released the The Icon Block after struggling to find an efficient way to add SVG icons to the Editor. Today, it's one of my favorite side projects with over 4,000 users. Version 1.3.0 came out last week and allows you to do even more. π nickdiego.com/icon-block-turβ¦
Knocked out a few feature requests today πͺ The Icon Block will soon have a new width control that supports more units or those specified in theme.json. Icon height control was also added along with a new settings panel design. Version 1.4.0 will release next week! β‘οΈ
.The Icon Block just hit 9,000 users. Not too bad for a single-block plugin I build for myself back in 2021. Perhaps it's because blocks are becoming more widely adopted, but I'm seeing really strong growth in the past 6 months. Currently at +1,000 users every ~25 days! π€―
With over 10,000 users, I'm trying something new for v1.5.0 of The Icon Block. Each major release will now have a "Release Candidate". Use the link below to download and test RC1. I'm really excited about this one! Drop zones + Media Library uploads = π github.com/ndiego/icon-blβ¦
An exciting day... Block Visibility and The Icon Block have each hit 20,000 users within the past week and have more than a combined 300,000 downloads. π€― Thank you to everyone who has used either plugin, logged issues, provided feedback, etc. I would not be where I am today
Your daily reminder that WordPress development can and should be fun. Does The Icon Block need full rotational support? Maybe not, but this makes me happy. π
