USS South Dakota (BB-57) pitching in heavy seas. Seeing the bow first and then the rest of the ship really does wonders for perspective. It looks like a cruiser at first until you see the entire battleship.

The submarine USS Atule (SS-403) torpedoes the German submarine U-977 during a test off Cape Cod on 13 November 1946. U-977 was famous for her escape to Argentina after WW2. However, she was turned over to the US after arriving and sunk the following year.
