Matt Walsh is under the impression that transgender people have done nothing. On Trans Day of Visibility, lets look at some of the contributions, accomplishments, and amazing things transgender people have done. We have always been here.

We so often talk about the frustrating aspects of academia but does anyone else ever just thank their lucky stars for practically unlimited access to any written text in the world? Also librarians, love y’all.

Granted, I teach graduate students, & they have to write. But in my experience they all want to be there and to learn, & if they have a personal health, cognitive, or mental health issue & disclose it to you, it’s probably because it’s real.

I've been involved in a number of PhD vivas now where the questions to be asked have been sent to the student in advance. And now I can't see why we don't always do this. Can't see why we terrorise a student with pre-viva anxiety and guessing games. 1/3

I don’t post here much anymore but I just revised the external resources section of my disability resources page! Go learn about making academia & STEM accessible from people smarter than me, all in one place ➡️ katemittendorf.com/home/disabilit… #DisabledInSTEM #Accessibility

Thank you to the wonderful interviewer/writer, Alexandra Scammell, for asking me to do this interview. It was humbling to reflect on my training, and all the mentors who led me along the way.

I got brave enough to share this story last year. Resharing for #NDEAM (#NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth) to bring light to how accommodations processes can serve as gatekeepers to access & inclusion. Grateful for commitment to disability equity from my current boss.

So this is where I live. Dropped my ballot Sunday in the danger window but thankfully in another ballot box. I hate this timeline.
