as an ex-aerospace person, this is so silly you can *literally* see the luneburg reflectors deployed in their video the US is never going to do a NATO exercise that reveals the real radar cross signature to (even an allied) opponent’s sensor array

trust me, if you ever see an F35 *without* luneburg lenses, you are about to be dead (or at least in a very bad spot). See those little black dots towards the rear of the F35? those make the Rafale’s claim a moot point. not to mention everything would happen BVR, “dogfights”

Read about this. Luneberg reflectors of Luneberg lenses are a type of passive radio reflective antenna. Like a bike reflector for aircraft. They can be deployed or retracted to either increase the radar signature (for safety or training) or “go stealth”, respectively.

We validated our ability to sustain operations, deploy and redeploy at scale, and now must follow through on lessons learned. This evolution, implementation and iteration prepare us for the future fight. af.mil/News/Article-D…

F-35 isn't even meant for dogfights Rafale will be immediately outmatched if it enters within 100 km of an F-35 in standard config Days of dogfighting are over, BVR is king

LaurieWired These dogfights are mutually beneficial for both nations, in that the F-35 is often put at an extreme disadvantage with new pilots and the other Aircraft at an extreme advantage This allows both pilots to gain a lot of hard experience, making them both better You only gain muscle

>be le me >be Rafale pilot >in exercise against American F-35 >get stomped over and over before I can find fat Ameriburger plane >beg exercise runners to set it up so that I start right behind F-35 >do 360 no scope and kill it >legions of morons on internet cheer my victory

So there will be pictures and video to come, but in the last week we caught one unknown classified UAV, two C-17s and others low level, a U-2s first flight in 17 years, 20+ objects that looked but didn’t act like satellites, and two unknown aircraft going into Groom.
