Chicken fact of the day: The little dinosaurs are omnivores and will eat just about anything - including other chicken! Ideally they should get a good mix of seeds, veggies, and a protein source like insects. Some grit also helps them break down their food! πŸ”πŸ£

Chicken fact of the day: No bird has more than 4 toes, except for a few chicken breeds who have five! It doesn't really serve a purpose for them though - it never really touches the ground. Just a unique quirky breed standard!

Chicken fact of the day: Did you know birds can't taste spicy? They lack the receptors for capsaicin, so they'll never know the joy of crying after biting a jalapeno... 🌢️πŸ”₯ But if you put chilli flakes into their feed it will keep vermin out! Plus their eggs get more vibrant!

Chicken fact of the day? Most animals' meat has a different name from the animal. cattle - beef pigs - pork deer - vension But chicken meat is just called chicken. This makes it a lot harder to find cute pictures of the little birds! I will help you with this

cattle - beef

Chicken fact of the day: Did you know crushed up eggshells are great food for chicken? They need the minerals for laying more! An unsalted scrambled egg with shells is also really nutritious for them. Just make sure they can't recognise it, they will eat the eggs they just laid!

Chicken fact of the day: the reason they always stabilise their head is that they can't focus their eyes very well. So in order for them to be able to see clearly while moving (or being moved) they need to keep their heads still! πŸ”

Chicken fact of the day: Donkeys and alpacas make great protection animals for your flock. They are super territorial and will protect their chicken friends from foxes and the like. So if you have the space, get your chickies some fluffy guardian angels! πŸ”πŸ¦™πŸ«

Chicken fact of the day: Chickens are descendants of the red junglefowl, a species native to Southeast Asia. These birds were domesticated around 5,000 to 10,000 years ago, making them one of the earliest animals to be domesticated by humans. πŸ”πŸ¦

Chicken fact of the day: Chickens can make over 30 different vocalizations to express themselves. They let us know that they are content, distressed, scared, or that they have found food, and much more! A lot of them will also sing a little song after laying an egg. Look it up!

Interesting observation: Since I've started testosterone, I have noticed that being sick works differently. When I have a cold, I feel a lot worse than before, but I feel better a lot quicker as well. Do any #trans people have similar experiences?
