Douglas Fairbanks in The Black Pirate (1926). The sail stunt was done with a setup designed by Douglas's brother Robert. The sail was pre-sliced, and the knife was attached to a pulley and a counterweight.

A classic #FilmNoir on Talking Pictures TV today, 8:50pm. Henry Hathaway’s Call Northside 777 (1948) with James Stewart, Richard Conte, Lee J. Cobb and Helen Walker. The film’s US poster is pretty recognisable for many #Noir fans so here’s a few international ones. Worth watching!
