Finally, Melissa Benn observes that the #ImprovingAccountability Commission wants to protect Ofsted but questions how essential this is - some (Layla Moran 🔶🕊️ mentioned) have already argued for the abolition of Ofsted. Nick Brook comes out to defend the role of Ofsted

Really important point from Ros McMullen: I know there are trusts out there like Bright Tribe but we should recognise that not all trusts are the same. I see far more collaboration on the ground between MATs than I ever saw amongst local authority schools #ImprovingAccountability

Nick Brook sums up NAHT’s #improvingaccountability thoughts: “We are calling for schools to take responsibility for schools in their local area. We should lend our strength to others. We need more peer reviews- identifying strengths and identifying vulnerabilities” #LAB18
