OTD: John F. Kennedy Airport unveiled the new EMAS aircraft arresting system made of crushable concrete to bring aircraft to a safe stop if they overrun a runway. Developed by the FAA and Port Authority of NY & NJ, it was the first airport to install it, and now, the system is in place at 68 U.S. airports.
