Very proud of this new mini-series! 🎤 The fragmented Muslim Near East can be an easy place for western learners to get lost. I hope this new two-parter with the marvellous Thomas Brosset helps them find their feet 🤓 shows.acast.com/teach-medieval… #medieval #crusades #islamichistory

This week saw our Year 7s complete their mini-unit on the 'birth of England' from 871 to 939. Rather fantastically, there was no clear outright winner in the final debate eg "Æthelstan was building on the achievements of his father and grandfather." Marvellous stuff ❤️ #medieval

Today’s A-level lesson focused on Nureddin’s takeover of Egypt in the 1160s. It’s a complex topic. Exploring the events first before discussing in groups and as a class really helped. #medieval #crusaderstates #crusades #islamichistory PODCAST: shows.acast.com/teach-medieval

I've written a lot and given talks about Cynethryth, but there's still so much we don't know about this fascinating woman (queen consort of King Offa).

Engaging young learners with exciting, interactive activities is key to sparking curiosity—especially with distant events like the Battle of Hastings. #medieval #teaching #Hastings shows.acast.com/teach-medieval
