I'd rather be studying Etruscan artifacts, but ... politics.

Surveillance Infantilism ... making sure billionaires are tucked securely into bed every night while the world around them goes to hell.

I'm sure MAGA find this terrifying. What? No uniforms? No firearms? No paramilitary cosplay? No random abductions? What even IS this?!?

After seeing a table of countries ranked by PPP GDP, a thought: The US is half a China economically. The US is two Chinas politically. The first is just a rough GDP comparison. The second is about one-party rule. The US has two parties, but most *states* have one-party rule.

Trump is definitely a farce! What earlier tragedy he is trying to relive though? Julius Caesar? Napoleon III? Porfirio Diaz? Juan Perón?

Interesting case study in how China is outpacing the West. "There used to be fears from Western brands that China Inc will steal its IP. I guess that's not a concern anymore. It now just rebadge China Inc." Did China "steal" to get ahead? Or just outcompete lazy Westerners?

Must say it's an ironic symmetry: the Republican party started by defeating the Confederacy and is ending by sending southern troops to suppress Northern cities.

Los Angeles was the prototype. Chicago and Portland are the next testing grounds. Donald Trump says he wants to go "city by city", unless we hold the line against this unconstitutional - and un-American - abuse of our troops.

Would make for entertaining video content ... obviously ICE would make it look like they are handing out candy to happy children, petting dogs, helping elderly cross the street, etc.

You keep canceling cheap energy because you have ideas about intermittency that are from the 1990’s. Solar is cheap, and electricity prices are rising faster than inflation partly because you guys keep canceling cheap stuff. Shortages are bad.

Know your enemy: watch three conservative historians debate just *how* glorious Trump is. Least painful part is Stephen Kotkin speaking up for the US scientific research establishment now being crushed by the MAGA cultural revolution. youtube.com/watch?v=v1Gm1O…
