Climate change should be central to a transformative approach to development, not separated from development efforts. After the #GeneralElection, what global action on #ClimateChange should a new UK government take? Read analysis from IDS researchers 👇 ac.pulse.ly/cwh9kdcgsq

Just Transition has become a buzzword & legitimises a form of ‘green growth’ that’s often unjust. #JustTransition should be a ‘ broader transition away from the systems of wealth and resource extraction that harm both people and planet.’ #ClimateChange break-down.org/post/what-is-a…

Just stumbled on Outlook India print copy on climate injustice, incl. a great piece by @PKashwan.bsky.social. Clearly international climate justice frameworks aren't fit for purposes & instead need to be grounded in local needs, interests & tackle class, caste & gender inequalities

The Kerela landslide & the huge death toll are terrible tragedies. Destroying hills, forests, water bodies & wetlands for tourism & commercial developments in ecologically sensitive areas in a uncertain climate must stop When will authorities wake up & smell the coffee?

So many of these 'rare events' are getting more frequent. Yet it continues to be business as usual on the #Gujarat coast which is dotted with industries & ports & the natural cover from mangroves destroyed. Hope everybody we know from ANTICIPATE TAPESTRY Project stays safe.

‘We need to make economics more human-centred and holistic, more attuned to the inequalities that the current growth paradigm has generated and to the harm it has inflicted on people and planet.” Great interview w Naila Kabeer

We need to accept uncertainty, climate extremes & embrace preparedness. The era of control is over. Unless this is accepted, some will resort to conspiracy theory, haunt meteorologists & claim hurricanes are engineered as in #Florida theconversation.com/why-might-peop… via The Conversation
