Glad to see the RFQ reiterates Kerry McCormack’s promise of affordable housing. Although nothing is set in stone yet, I’m maintaining hope the city sees it through. And for all the criticism residents get for “pushing back,” I have yet to see a single person oppose this.

A post about posts that indirectly target certain individuals, carefully selecting their arguments to suit your narrative on a topic you're determined to "win," ending with your strongest jab to secure your victory.

Had a “locked myself out” situation last night. Was heading to the grocery store to get a few things for dinner. Was too late by the time I was rescued. As I searched for a restaurant at 9pm on a Tuesday the options were insanely limited. To me, this is a measure of city vs not.

Called 311 to locate a form. We found it. Called 311 again because we couldn’t type in the fillable form. “We’ll look into it.” 311 is a nice service that only works if the city does.

Block clubs get dragged for being full of “old” people but as I looked around last night’s meeting I mindfully noted how well represented every age group was, especially the presumably 30-somethings (bc we don’t ask age). And aside from 2 individuals, everyone was a repeat.

Lots of talk about closing Burke today but the even bigger challenge will come with what to do with the land next. Maybe this is a hot take but most of it is not in a great location, very disconnected from downtown. Muni lot and current Browns stadium better geographically.

But develop as what? This article sites options as public space, a new stadium, a Blossom-like venue, and a new neighborhood (which I really wish we wouldn’t entertain given the number of distressed Cleveland ‘hoods). Shouldn’t we figure out a goal first? And who it will benefit.

Things I appreciate about this plan: privately funded stadium, utilizing vacant land not currently attractive for much else, good example of institutional collaboration (Metroparks one of few Cleveland orgs making visible improvements), first potential new rail stop in how long?

Filtering just doesn’t work. Stop using it as justification to build as many apartments as possible. You can still want that while being honest about its limitations. Infill development can have other merits.
