PLAYERS: When your coach doesn't play you, they aren't disrespecting you or hating on you. They are respecting your teammates and loving the team. Good coaches play the players that make up the best team and that are the most trusted team members. Become that kind of teammate.

Kids are hopping AAU teams like crazy and we haven’t even made it to the first live period…. What is going on?? Is this parent driven or player driven??

I don’t understand parents scheduling spring break trips during AAU. But I always notice it’s not the REAL players. Yes, basketball isn’t everything and family time is important but the end of July is wide open and August. Christmas break was just 3 months ago.

PLAYERS: Your coach shouldn't have to beg you to be unselfish, provide energy, have a good attitude, or give your best effort. Those are all things you can control. That is what a winning teammate brings to a team. Great teams have great teammates.

Coaches don’t want to be the first to offer a kid at that level…. But they want to come back to the table later talking about “I believed in you from the beginning”…… kids and parents are smarter than you think.
