I'm puzzled. Based on what I've seen in the last 6 years, this "green accounting saga" seems much like a new distraction to promote information over strict regulations. But this also reveals power conflicts and diversity of national types of capitalism. Are the two compatible?

"Canada sustainability standard-setters embrace strong international reporting rules" Strong, in comparison to whom? It's all a matter of perspective (and of neighbour) shorturl.at/efox3

👍 1st-time SNB publishes GHG emissions of its equities, government & corporate bonds held in foreign exchange reserves 😬12 mio tons of CO2 eq (= 1/3 of Switzerland's GHG emissions) 😐Not a problem: cannot pursue "a plan to reduce the GHG emissions related to its investments"

This was a really fun chapter to think about and write. Coming soon in the forthcoming book "Sustainable Capitalism", edited by Inara Scott, available here: sustainablecapitalismbook.com/chapters

I am pleased to publish this short blog post with my new research institution. I argue for the need to politicize sustainability reporting standards, at the risk of ignoring alternative policy pathways for finance and environmental impacts beyond those relevant to investors.

After nearly four years of working on it, I've finally got this article out in Soc_Stud_Sci today: a little portrait of CryoArks in particular and an account of the difficulties of biobanking more generally (Open Access) journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/03…

I'm looking forward to taking part in this great workshop tomorrow (unfortunately virtually for me, and in the middle of the night from Ottawa) and presenting the initial findings of my research on Nature-related financial risks!

I wrote a review of 'The Price is Wrong: Why Capitalism Won’t Save the Planet' by Christophers for Finance and Society I focus on why certain economic approaches to green transitions continue to dominate policy discussions despite their consistent shortcomings shorturl.at/GsXYR

But that the traditional machinery of intergovernmental negotiations is hardly keeping up while the financial, business and high tech sectors race ahead. The result? Muddling through. My take on the outcomes here: theconversation.com/cop16-the-worl…

With Biodiversity COP 16 far behind and Climate COP 29 now underway, here’s a good summary of the former: shorturl.at/I6iPu. Loved this reported quote: “In 2010, they killed the idea of biodiversity credits. Nobody thought they would come back like a zombie.”

🚨New Publication 🚨 in New Political Economy with the one and only Mathias Larsen. We propose the term 'Green Financial Planning' to demonstrate that green finance is much more than a few loans/bonds with green names - tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
