How do we introduce robots in older people’s lives? How can we promote meaningful and beneficial interactions for older adults with emerging technologies? We explored these questions with our team from Swinburne University of Technology's : Sonja Pedell, Kathy Constantin and Leon Sterling

We explored different interaction scenarios with older adults and investigated how we could introduce and finally engage them with a social robot. The knitting group made some lovely costumes for the robot that they named Kira :)

We focused on the generation of positive emotions in the process and on understanding how to adapt the social robot to specific contexts. People were surprised when they saw Kira using a walker, and the Man's shed group wanted to see Kira sitting on the chair they made for her.
