New paper alert! A horizon for haptic perception, w Felix Jarto & @pmedendorp A fun model-driven study! Turns out that humans can accurately localize touch on a 6-meter rod (!), which our modeling suggested was the spatial limit of the haptic sense journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.115…

What a week last one! I presented my PhD work at IEEE World Haptics Conference and graduated from The University of Sheffield. I truly enjoyed my PhD, mostly thanks to my supervisor Hannes Saal and colleagues/friends of NeuTouch_project. A bit sad this is coming to an end, but science and life will keep us in touch✌🏻

Proprioception is classically assumed to rely on muscle and joint receptors. However, given the richness of skin stretch and the precision of the skin receptors' responses (Edin 1992,2004), we might want to reconsider! Awesome work by Hannes Saal team! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
