Dr KM Cherian passed away yesterday. He did the first heart tx in India in a private hosp after the law was passed. The heart recipient was a Muslim, the donor Hindu and surgeon was Christian - creating a religious harmony. KMC speaks about this harmony. Our tribute to him 🙏🏽

Thank you- yes that was her dedication that helped us take a decision to immediately explore and we saved the graft - the rupture was on the convex surface - opened like a book- it was horrible sight but managed to save the graft by re suturing. Will search post the pictures.

At #WTC2025 - 5000 participants from 72 countries. It is a big meeting-with over 15 parallel sessions excellent exhibition. But mostly North American participants. WTC to b truly international & inclusive should have had other big societies like ESOT, MESOT, ISOT too joining in

We have come so far in these last 70 yrs in Solid Organ Transplants since the first successful living kidney tx by Dr Murray. #WTC2025 paid special tribute. And this in many ways reflects how SOT transformed medical advancements since that 1st transplant.

Today is the last day of #WTC2025 at #SanFrancisco . While I enjoyed the meeting but I must say the dominance of North American abstracts gave me more a taste of an American meeting. Hope we can have more inclusive meeting in the future.

One of the highlights for me of attending #WTC2025 was the meeting the Transplant Professionals of Indian Origin. They had invited me for a talk in 2018 - so it was great meeting old friends at their dinner meeting at the beautiful SFO modern art museum.

Overall summary of what happened at #WTC2025 was well presented. As I said in my last post-bulk of abstracts reflected North American practices - 82% delegates and 77% faculty from North America.Over 600 oral abstracts and 1700 posters. Amazed at the nos. Only 31% were clinicians
