Hate to admit it, but the Leafs' 2nd-round loss isn't looking so bad anymore. Only team to get 3 wins against the Panthers in the playoffs.

Further to this note, it was 75 years ago the Leafs last were defeated in a seventh game by the eventual Cup champions, the 1950 Detroit Red Wings. Only other instance was 1941, a Game 7 loss to Boston, which went on to beat Detroit.

One of my favourite Stanley Cup Fun Facts: Jacques Plante won the Cup in 5 consecutive years (β€˜56-60) and his name was spelled differently each time it was engraved: J. Plante, Jacques Plante, Jac Plante, Jacq Plante, and Jaques Plante

Leafs not scheduled to pick at the draft a week Saturday until end of Round 2, holding Cup champ Florida's ticket at 64th. Chosen at that spot by Toronto to date, D Topi Niemela (2020), F Freddy Modin (1994), Peterboro F Greg Vey (1985) and Quebec Jr. F Luc Simard (1970).

The Cup, particularly the β€˜presentation’ version, has taken a lot of hits, so don’t expect the pugnacious Panthers to ease up on it after their long road to a second win: torontosun.com/sports/hockey/…

No Original Six team has seen all five of its top point producers retire elsewhere (yet). Plus, the Feds insist they aren’t dropping the Tavares tax case for now, Easton Cowan, new author Kyle Wellwood and more in your Friday Leaf Snap Shots: torontosun.com/sports/hockey/…

This date in 1992, six of the 12 Leaf draft picks at the Montreal Forum would play some NHL in Toronto or elsewhere: Brandon Convery (8th), Grant Marshall (23rd), Nikolai Borschevsky (77th), Patrik Augusta (149th), Ryan VandenBussche (173rd) and Nathan Dempsey (245th).

Happy 50th to the blockbuster Jaws. Saw it while working at Bayview - Wildwood Resort when about 10 of we young staffers piled into a pick-up and drove into a theatre in Orillia. A highlight of that summer. We didn’t want to go back in our little lake after.
