The 18-year-old Sydney singer-songwriter tells the story behind the catchy honky-tonk track, inspired by his time in Texas 1/10

Ryan Mead explains how the lyrics 'Tangled Up in Wranglers' came from wanting to capture the atmosphere of Lone Star State dancehalls in a play on words 2/10

He road tested the song live to gauge audience reaction before deciding it should be his inaugural release. The pedal steel guitar helps nail the sound he wanted 3/10

The fast-rising talent graduated from the New South Wales Talent Development Project in 2021, exposing him to new genres and other musicians 5/10

Mead started out as a drummer before picking up the guitar in high school after seeing Back to the Future. He only began singing a year and a half ago! 4/10
