Carbenes are uncommon in metal–hydride nanomaterials. We introduce a carbene copper–hydride cluster which outperforms Stryker’s reagent in stability and provides a bench-stable catalyst across six reaction classes. A promising alternative for catalytic applications! #Catalysis
