You know what... 🤔 ...let the bot accounts continue to like random posts/responses of mine. This only adds to visibility and eventual retention of my Social Media accounts. Bottom line - a win-win scenario for me.

TFW you try to figure out, why the UI of ScalerMusic "Scaler 2" behaves so darn slow on your rig, and you actually spend about 1 hour creating an interesting chord progression and corresponding patterns...

The #bots are really going wild on my user account regarding likes to random posts of mine, even going back years now. Again, it's okay... more exposure for my endeavors.

Question for Chris Huelsbeck -- now that "X-Out: Resurfaced" is out... and there seems to be more(!) Soundtrack content than expected... Will there be an OST (re)release on Bandcamp?

GDC2017 - DOOM: Behind the Music "The 2nd part of the brief went like this: no guitars! We hate guitars, we do not want guitars in our game. Do not put guitars in. (I love synths) ...cool, I can work with that" Making of "Cultist Base": "Change the process, change the outcome"

It's been 11 years, and I'm proud that this "side project" still exists. Please have a look at the Mix Challenge audio community - featuring monthly recurring mixing and songwriting games, emphasizing education, experimentation, and collaboration. mix-challenge.com

A lot of video games are forced online, made to be "eventually obsolete", and/or are outright removed from our game libraries. The #StopKillingGames campaign wants to start a conversation about that & push for more VG preservation. Make your voice heard: stopkillinggames.com

As a follow-up. Online-only dependency has started spreading beyond video games as well. (thread) Examples: Adobe "forced from perpetual to subscription only" plans. Both Avid and Waves tried this and had to paddle back, others hide the availability of perpetual licenses...

Another audio realm comparison to #StopKillingGames would be copy protection - e.g. Challenge/Response. If a company that uses C/R goes bust, you'll loose access to those tools. This happened w/ Camel Audio (bought by Apple, got integrated into Logic Pro, Win users were SOL).

Studio Compyfox (@studiocompyfox) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The loss of access thanks to C/R going bust also happened to many other companies. One I'm still salty about is FXpansion (now ROLI). Company basically stopped maintaining tools overnight, then silently dropped plugins w/o warning. No updates, no plain serial, now unusable.

Studio Compyfox (@studiocompyfox) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is why people rightfully dislike C/R as copy protection mechanic. As positive example: one company that stated "there will be a contingency plan in case of ever closing our doors" - Spectrasonics - stating "we'll provide final patches and proper license codes in this case"

This topic spans to more areas. Incl. "mandatory online profiles (OS)", specific hardware requirements prior to installing, etc. What about a rise in DAWs and instruments/plugs that ask you to be "always online" now to even work or have random online checks for valid licenses?

We've spent a lot of money on software tools & will eventually never be able to use that equipment because <reasons>. Our software realm is short lived, I am aware. But there are not enough End-of-Life plans - especially not for legitimate users. We also need to talk about that.

And please let me NOT get started on Steinberg's forced obsolescence of the VST2 plugin format - as only company that will do this w/their DAWs. Making it eventually impossible to use VST2 tools - to force users on to VST3.x, despite VST2 still working fine on arm64/native M1.
