Strobe will be taking part in a Day of Peace and Reconciliation at San Quentin Prison on January 29th. We are happy to be a part of this unusual event. The program will include works by Mozart and the composers who have written for us: Alrich, Desby, and Russo.

4/Then one shyly asked if I liked art, and showed us into another chapel, where the inmates had created beautiful paintings. Some of them exhibit throughout the US and even in other countries. He talked about how art and music transformed him from the angry person he'd been.

2/When we played, we started with the Rondeau from the Mozart Oboe Quartet. When the A theme returned, they actually cheered and clapped! Next we played 2 movements of Alexis Alrich's Water Colors: Green Pool & Blue Spring. We finished up with Neal Desby's Golden Gate Rag.

1/Today's Strobe concert at San Quentin Prison’s Day of Peace and Reconciliation was intense, but not for the reasons you would imagine. It was a day of music, of grace, and of joy.

Strobe was featured in the San Quentin Times for performing on their Day of Peace and Reconciliation last January. As we mentioned before, it was a day of unexpected grace and joy. We wish everyone there the best during these difficult times. sanquentinnews.com

At 12:30pm today in 2016, Strobe gave its first performance on Noontime Concerts in San Francisco. 5 years later, we’ve had new works written for us & grants to support those commissions. We’re looking forward to a return to the stage with more music when the pandemic is over.
