#Strateole2 is back to Mahé international airport, Seychelles after two tough years of preparation in France and in the US. Thanks to Seychelles Meteorological Authority for their support. Weather is good. Expecting launches soon. IPSL 🌍 CNES @INSU_CNRS Stratéole 2 USA

Opening flight of the second #Strateole2 campaign! This balloon carries instruments that measure water vapor, aerosols, as well as temperature profiles down to 1.6 km below the flight altitude. Smooth launch in the Seychelles night. CNES IPSL 🌍 @INSU_CNRS LASP

And this is the second balloon of the #Strateole2 opening night, with this time the LATMOS nadir-pointing lidar to observe cloud tops, and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Jennifer Haase GPS radio-occultation instrument to measure temperature profiles below the balloon. What a night!

Ups and downs last week: 4 launches in two consecutive days, yet one early flight termination. CNES team promptly identified a specific issue with the balloon. Launches will soon resume. 👉 webstr2.ipsl.polytechnique.fr to follow #Strateole2 balloon tracks! IPSL 🌍 @INSU_CNRS

The 5th #Strateole2 balloon is in the air tonight with LASP instruments: an aerosol counter and an aerosol/water vapor/temperature profiler. Lots of upcoming data to better understand water vapor transport through the tropopause. IPSL 🌍 @INSU_CNRS Stratéole 2 USA

The #Strateole2 campaign continues with the smooth launch (zero wind!) of its 6th long-duration balloon. This one carries the same instruments than the 1st (unfortunate) flight. We hope the best for flight #6. So far so good...! @INSU_CNRS IPSL 🌍 CNES

Yesterday night, we flew the 7th #Strateole2 balloon from Seychelles. @INSU_CNRS instruments onboard will measure greenhouse gases all across the tropics. The same day, Flight #2 had sadly to be terminated because of the loss of one com link in the gondola. CNES IPSL 🌍

And this is the launch of the second #Strateole2 balloon in this beautiful Seychelles night. Both balloons will fly near 20 km of altitude for months (hopefully), surfing stratospheric waves around the Earth. IPSL 🌍 CNES @INSU_CNRS

Atmosfer is the third and last flight of the CNES balloon campaign. With 12 experiments on board, the balloon will fly during more than 11 hours in a small circle of 100 km around the @SSC_Rockets Esrange base.
