Pocket of strong winds coming ashore in the eastern eyewall. It will be interesting to see if the winds can maintain strength or even increase as the eyewall moves closer to New Orleans. #HurricaneFrancine #neworleans

Without any tropical cyclones so far meeting my picky criteria for chasing, guess I'll need to settle for the next best thing, ultra-wimpy TD 9E. Atmospheric soundings on Sunday and more likely Monday do suggest *some* potential for severe thunderstorms in AZ. 🤠

As I like to say, never trust a fart or a hurricane. Today marks the 25th. anniversary of my intercept of Hurricane Floyd, a 90-pound weakling that only tickled the belly of Daytona Beach, FL. At one point, Floyd was a 155 mph monster in the Atlantic. Back in the day, hurricane

Not going to post model graphics as it's 90% sorcery ATM, but there is a heavy-weight battle brewing between the GFS and ECMWF over where the aforementioned, theoretical TC could go. Also something brewing off the coast of Mexico in the same time frame. Oh my. 🤠

The 18z GFS is now having problems developing the aforementioned tropical system into something major in the Gulf. Do not have time to look over everything, but suspect the usual late-season culprits of westerlies and dry air might be hampering development and / or pushing things
