I don't want to "attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity", but I'm struggling to conceive of a stupidity stupid enough to explain Labour alienating not just the old, poor, sick and disabled but also the victims & families of Grenfell & Hillsborough.

Err...what the chuffing McFuckery is wrong with 45-64 year olds? (My own age cohort, btw). In **the last six months** they've come round to the idea that Trump is kind of OK? Even the Boomers are getting it now and you guys (us guys) are going "oh, well, you know dude, I mean..."

I blinked first. And biggest and best. No one in the history of blinking has blinked as first as I blinked. A lot of people are saying it was the firstest blink they've ever seen.

It is impossible to actually read Marx and not get that the “bourgeoisie are sometimes the good guys (or at least better than reactionary large landholders)”. It’s central to historical materialism that capitalism is uniquely capable of creating the conditions of human freedom.

I’m old enough to remember when people who bought politicians knew they were supposed to pretend they were helping the person they believed would make the world a better place, rather than admitting they just wanted to easily influence policy from the end of a phone line…

If you haven’t degraded yourself for clicks enough in 2025 you can always start a thread joking about real human beings being deliberately starved to death…

The Education Secretary, not only not knowing the difference between 1 and I, but also clearly not having *any* awareness of what AI stands for, is about, the pros & cons, benefits, dangers, the debates around the most important development in education in decades at least...

If Trump fits your idea of “elite human capital” you should probably get off social media right now. Go for a lie down, then after a good long rest try to get out more, meet people, read some books. Get a hobby. You’re probably beyond saving but maybe if you act fast…?

Water nationalisation was vastly more successful than water privatisation. Nationalisation of health, education, roads, libraries, the military, fire service, police, prisons, electricity, gas, telecoms, mail, railways - all worked. But, apart from that, what did the romans...

Post-scarcity doesn't mean no work. Automation/AI/whatever can relieve us of loads of unpleasant toil but there will still be plenty to do - and to feel fulfilled by. "Not so much Fully Automated Luxury Communism as mainly automated, comfortable, post-capitalism".

I miss the days when we’d all have a massive Palm Sunday celebration - street parties, fireworks, sound systems, double shots for the price of a single… Not allowed to do that these days or the woke brigade will throw you in jail. These days.

A whole thread in which many people propose various ways to manipulate the energy market, but no one notices that nationalising the energy supply would remove the need for any of this nonsense.
