I don’t think promoting the use of AI for writing paper in high school and college is going to help the next generation. So much for critical and independent thinking. Teaching to the test has already done enough harm.

During my visit to Uganda, I got to talk to my Makerere University faculty colleagues about the future of #genetics research in Uganda. The future is bright with enthusiastic young trainees.

Curious if anyone else ever had problems getting carryover from #NIH in prior administrations (I have so I'm wondering what the deal is).

Sometimes I wonder if people submit poorly written grants just to get feedback on what to clarify.

Some academics have a laissez faire attitude towards deadlines. That’s not cute when someone else is ultimately responsible.. and life happens to that person responsible. Be considerate. If you can’t make a deadline, say so.

Anyone else spending at least an hour a day stressing about this #NIH funding chaos? I want to keep my team.

A plea to fellow academics: please be timely in your manuscript reviews. If you can’t do it in the allotted or reasonable time, decline. Papers being under review for MONTHS hurts science… not to mention it is inconsiderate and rude. #AcademicTwitter

I just opened my advising portal and discovered I have 100 advisees. That does not include any new minor students I get this week, 2 more Dean's major students, and my co-mentored PhD student. WOW.
