Well folks. I'm sad to report that Helm Glacier is nearing the end of its life. Aerial photo of the glacier from 16 Sept, 2024. Mid section thinning is about to cut the glacier in half. It's tough not to feel like we are losing the fight against the climate crisis.

We now have a petition that anyone from around the world can sign to help save NASA science and urge the United States Congress to reject the proposed 47% cut to NASA’s science programs, which is part of a 25% overall cut, before the 2026 budget is finalized. We have 57

BREAKING: The Trump administration’s budget request just hit Congress and slashes NASA funding to its lowest level since 1961, which could usher in a dark age for NASA space science. What happens next? Congress will make the final decision and set the budget. The good news: YOU

Well over $20B in taxpayer, paid for assets being thrown away for a savings that's literally pennies on those dollars. I'm all for shrinking waste and increasing efficiencies in our government, but this is neither. science.org/content/articl…

NASA has had a profound effect on all of our lives as it advances science and technology. It is also a beacon of unity and hope for the entire world, inspiring us to grow as a species as we look to the stars. It is imperative that the US continues this leadership.

If there's a gap in my tracks, you know what may have done it 🌪️ I snapped this image with my rear-facing Navcam after completing a recent drive. I'm still exploring Jezero Crater's rim, which I climbed out of several months ago on my quest to find signs of past microbial life.

NASA’s PUNCH mission just captured its first “space rainbows”—sunlight scattered by tiny dust particles drifting between the planets. 🌈 It’s the first glimpse from PUNCH (Polarimeter to UNify the Corona and Heliosphere)—and just the beginning. 📸: NASA / PUNCH Team
