In Science, year 1 are learning about plants. We've explored where plants come from and the function of each part. We've also planted our own seeds and are excited to watch them grow.

Year 1 have had a busy week! In maths, we launched into sorting and counting, using different manipulatives such as bears and counters to count to 10. In English, we started the first text of the year, Beegu, using our senses to imagine what a spaceship crash site might be like.

Year 1 loved taking part in International Languages Day! They learnt about the Eiffel Tower and located Paris on a map. During Exploring Time, they recreated the historic landmark using Lego, wooden blocks and lolly sticks. Some children had a go at learning the colours in French

Year 1 learnt about birds this week as part of science. We found out that not all birds can fly even though they have wings. Our favourite fact was that birds can keep one side of their brain awake whilst the other side sleeps, in order to watch out for predators.

Year 3 had a wonderful time yesterday on their fieldwork trip to Tonbridge. This visit had a Geography focus and the children caught the train to Tonbridge, completed surveys and sketches and even had time for a visit to the park!

"In year 2, as part of Black History Month, we have explored the journey of the Windrush Generation to the UK. We listened to stories about their experiences, and learned about influential individuals whose legacy helped shape modern Britain.

Last Friday, Year 1 took part in Art Day. We printed using leaves and experimented with different shapes to find the best print. Following on from learning about Andy Goldsworthy, we had a go at creating our own land art.
