As someone who coached d3 hoops and knew most of our soccer players for my 13 years at the school I can confidently say: I trust the opinions of many on this app who didn’t play college soccer more than 90% of the players “Common sense” continues to be an ironic handle.

The gatekeeping is saying someone who holds a different opinion shouldn’t be able to discuss soccer. Just debate why he’s wrong - make the counter points. Don’t do the “you don’t know ball”/“what level did you play”/“you don’t deserve to have an opinion” family of gatekeeping .
