Still time to apply for a PhD with our group and David K Smith, perfect for people wanting to do synthetic chemistry but with lots of interdisciplinary opportunities to learn more about biology and biomaterials. Deadline 4th Jan

Lovely work from Nick Yates Chemical Biology Group @ UoY, addressing solubility issues with NHS and sulfo-NHS esters across different solvents - a must read for anyone using these molecules for bioconjugation! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

We are recruiting! 3 year PDRA in natural product synthesis. Part of a multidisciplinary natural product biosynthesis project led by Lichman Lab, also with Gideon Grogan. This role is for an organic chemist to work in my lab. Informal inquiries welcome. jobs.york.ac.uk/vacancy/pdra-i…

Great work from Chemical Biology Group @ UoY PhD Abby from the Fascione group! Must read for glyco scientists

Congratulations to the group's second PhD student Laetitia on her graduation last week! The first one I've been able to attend at Chemistry at York so a very proud supervisor moment, and lovely to see some of our undergrad students back to celebrate as well

Our new paper has been a labour of love so delighted to see it out! We show that strain-promoted cycloadditions can take place in lipid membranes, providing a potentially valuable tool to study membrane proteins, lipid dynamics, and bilayer transport onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…

Strain-Promoted Cycloadditions in Lipid Bilayers Triggered by Liposome Fusion (Molly M. Stevens and co-workers) Imperial College London #OpenAccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…

#NewPaper from Chris Spicer and colleagues Chemistry at York 'Expanding the scope of the successive ring expansion strategy for macrocycle and medium-sized ring synthesis: unreactive and reactive lactams' #antibacterial #assays #ecoli pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

Mixed feelings to announce the first paper to come out from our good friend Prof Paul Clarke's lab since he died last year. Elegant and creative total synthesis work of the type Paul was always best known for. Chemistry at York Chemical Communications Prof Ian Fairlamb pubs.rsc.org/en/Content/Art…

Our group had a fantastic time showcasing hydrogel chemistry (beautiful alginate beads and 'fake snow'!) to the next generation of budding scientists at York Festival of Ideas last week, along with the team of David K Smith and York Biomedical Research Institute. Great to interact with the York community

Hi! I am excited to share a new paper led by Sam Rozans We all love peptides and put them in biomaterials, but don't often think about how stable they are during culture. Sam and co-workers synthesized a series of peptide libraries and incubated them with different cell types.

Keep an eye out for the last couple from the group!😎🦾 Latest instalment: Phathu’s PhD work on enantioselective a-amination just out in J Org Chem/Org Lett (pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…). Congrats to Phathu and the entire team!🎉🎉 For more from this guy, keep an eye out on the Chris Spicer!

Our latest paper from Lydia and Ksenia Stankevich is out in JACS Au! We wanted better reagents for selectively labelling protein N-termini, so looked at how functionalisation affected each step of the complex equilibrium, leading to faster and more stable probes! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
