Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Last Wave, with Richard Chamberlain. Slow burning Folk-Cosmic horror, based on the Dream Time. Worth a watch for the crawling dread.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Antiviral. Truly horrific body-horror with a very nasty twist. Would recommend, but not watch again.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Space Master X-7, more science fiction than horror set. Really, really, slow. Blame this one on my husband.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein, made by Jess Franco. Quite the Monster Mash, with the world’s loudest bats. Made in French, dubbed in English, and The Monster had the worst makeup ever. Should be riffed.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Night of the Demon, directed by Jacques Tourneur. We saw it on a very good print, so the atmosphere was great, the story was good, and the characters were likeable. The monster holds up still. Worth a watch.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Scream and Scream Again, a bait and switch of a movie. The three stars had very little screen time, the film was more police procedural than horror, and what started as a Dracula film, ended up as a Frankenstein superhuman story. Meh.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Satan’s School for Girls. I saw this when it first came out. And it’s not as hokey as I thought it was. Cheryl Ladd and Kate Jackson as mean girls before Charlie’s Angels. Ok for 70s tv movies.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Destiny, a silent film by Fritz Lang. I expected a folk horror, but ended up with a fairy tale. Although it really wasn’t horror, it was beautiful on a restored print, and worth a watch for its beauty.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Ghosts of Hanley House, an obscure black and white film from 1968. Probably the most tedious horror film I have ever seen. Please don’t waste your time.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Premonition, a cheesy film from the 70s shot in Mississippi. Kinda meh, with a few moody set pieces.

Tonight #31nightsofhorror was The Lazarus Effect. Pretty scary, but it was hard to get invested in the characters. Not sure if I liked it or not.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Thing on the Doorstep, a relatively faithful adaptation of the HP Lovecraft story. Although it was cheaply made, it was engaging enough to keep my interest. Would recommend.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Patrick, the first major ozploitation horror film of the 70s. Actually, pretty suspenseful and interesting, and keeps you guessing. I would recommend.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was Edgar Allen Poe’s The Oval Portrait. Felt like a Canadian made-for-tv movie - gothic creepiness, though the acting sucked. A decent enough time waster.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Howling II. Christopher Lee and the cinematography were the best things about this one. The rest was aaarghhhh.

Tonight’s #31nightsofhorror was The Black Castle, from 1952. Although billed as horror, and co-starring Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney, Jr., it was more swashbuckling adventure than scary. Not vet creepy, but amusing for the action.
