Someone appears to have set fire to an *official* Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk ballot drop box in Baldwin Park over the weekend. It's being investigated as arson and county officials are increasing ballot pickups at all county locations, effective immediately.

A mountain lion was spotted in a tree near the 28800 block on Barragan Ave in Agoura Hills. The Department of Fish & Wildlife is responding but residents are urged to avoid the area.

This mountain lion is very likely scared & stressed out by the loud noises, hovering helicopter & overall commotion in the area. We encourage nearby residents to keep pets indoors overnight (especially barking dogs) so this big cat can safely move on to nearby open space.

Highly emotional discussion in my Nextdoor feed this weekend about whether to leave out food and water for wildlife due to drought. Most people came down on side of at least putting out water even though wildlife experts advise against this. Maybe worth a story Monte Morin?

What I find ironic about the people on Nextdoor advocating for steps that will bring more wildlife into residential areas is that many of the other posts in my feed lately have been about increased daytime sightings of coyotes and how they are menacing small pets.
