With the Russian team serving for the match, Sophie and Angela broke to tie it 5-5. A hold of serve and another break resulted in a 7-5 third set win. #Excellent

American Sophie Chang, ranked 219, takes down sixth seed Ana Konjuh, ranked 107, in a match tie-break. Big effort. #AO2023 #AustralianOpen #WTA

If you aren't familiar with name Sophie Chang, you might be seeing it in record books soon. The 25yo American scores an impressive upset over Ana Konjuh, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-6 (7). And, if the serve gun is to be believed, ties the fastest ever serve on the WTA tour at 136mph!

Just ONCE in life I’d like to connect on a forehand (or really anything) the way Sophie Chang does SUCH a clean ball striker. Must be a nice life… (BTW: Chang and Ashley Lahey currently lead top seeds Santamaria/Watson 75 20. One set away from the Dow Tennis Classic Doubles Final)
