Did you know that the first meal for most newly emerged caterpillars is the eggshell from which it hatched? After it feasts on the eggshell, it moves onto the leaves of its host plant in preparation for the pupa stage!

When you visit our Garden with Wings Butterfly Exhibit you will see plants that benefit every stage of a butterfly. Adult butterflies need plants that provide nectar. We also provide host plants for a wide variety of caterpillars.

Impressive is an understatement when describing the annual migration of the monarch butterfly. They fly 4,000 miles round trip from the US and Canada, where they breed, then all the way down to central Mexico where they hibernate and return up north in the spring.

We get lots of questions about bonsai- how do I keep it alive? Where can I purchase a bonsai? Answers are here! Join us every 2nd Saturday of the month from 9AM to 4PM for our Bonsai study group and learn from the experts who take care of the collection at SGG.
