The Secretary of State & Governor of Cabo Delgado met with Nihan Erdogan, IOM Deputy Regional Director, to reinforce strategic collaboration on humanitarian, peacebuilding & development priorities. Together, we turn challenges into opportunities & response into long-term impact.

IOM 🇲🇿 welcomed Deputy Regional Director for EHSA, Ms Nihan Erdogan, on a field visit to Pemba. She met with people affected by displacement and witnessed IOM’s operations in action, delivered in close cooperation with communities working to rebuild and strengthen resilience.

🤝 Migration governance starts with community agency. In Mozambique, DDG Daniels met with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Fátima Simão Manso to strengthen joint efforts on displacement, resilience & migration systems, grounded in the leadership of those most affected.

Arrived in #Mozambique where +1 million people have been recently displaced by climate shocks & violence. Met w/ donors & partners to push for continued support to the govt and the people of 🇲🇿 so communities can rebuild, adapt & thrive. Local solutions work, let's back them!

In times of crisis, unity brings hope & saves lives. IOM, UNICEF Moçambique, & WFP Mozambique joined forces to support nearly 2,000 people displaced by recent attacks in Niassa. Families received emergency food, shelter, & hygiene kits through the UN Joint Response Plan.

Collaborative action continues in Cabo Delgado. At last week's Solutions Working Group plenary, UN, NGO & civil society actors came together in Pemba, reviewing progress & aligning efforts around durable solutions, in line with the recently launched PEGDI.
