Well done to the Kalu brothers, Kelvin (third year) and Kenneth (first year) who had a fantastic meet in Athlone at the weekend at the Connacht Indoor Finals. Kelvin broke the Connacht record in the long jump at U16 level. Kenneth won a silver in the 60 metre sprint 👏👏

Well done to Mark Tempany and Diarmaid O'Connell who represented their clubs again recently in the Connacht U-19s provincial Interpro against a strong Munster side.

🇮🇪 Congratulations to our Fifth Form student Diarmaid O'Connell. Diarmaid who is no stranger to international duty at this stage has already played for Ireland v Italy in the U-18 clubs match last October. He has now been selected again to play against Wales on March 10th. 🇮🇪

Junior & Senior Connacht Cup Rugby Finals tomorrow! The very best of luck tomorrow to our two rugby squads and their management teams who are heading off to the Dexcom Stadium, Galway. SGS will be facing Marist College, Athlone in both finals.

🎭 Congratulations to our fifth form student and Drama Club member, Dara Kilcommons, who has been accepted by the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (RADA). He will participate in a two week immersive course this summer. 🎭

CONGRATULATIONS JUNIOR MATHS TEAM! Our Junior Maths team competed at the IMTA 'Pi quiz' schools competition today and came away with 1st place. They will now compete in the National competition in Maynooth Well done Adam Foley, Róisín Spratt, Makary Wahro and Oisín Choo.

Cross-Curricular Work First Year Business Studies and Second Year Home Economics students collaborated on a co-curricular project, making festive treats for Christmas. We were delighted to donate the profits of €314 to North West Hospice recently.

Green Schools TY programme are involved in the 'Power to Change' project led by Dr Yvonne Lang from ATU. The video below shows the work ongoing by our TY students and their teacher Mrs.Moore. This has been filmed by Rove Studios.

SGS students recently visited the local apprenticeship centre with Ms. McGuinness and learned about apprenticeships available. Students enjoyed their trip to the centre and were highly impressed by the facilities and courses on offer there.

SGS chess club attended a tournament in ATU Sligo on 12th April. Playing against college players and with five rounds and a total of 29 players, Jamie Martin ; first form and Éanna Gallagher ; fifth form both won three of those rounds. Well done lads!
