Have you ever wondered what factors shape the processes of morphological evolution? And how might innovations arise and contribute to patterns of diversification? Our new paper uses 3D CT scans of tetraodontiform fishes to explore these questions. doi.org/10.1093/evolut… 1/15

What a cool study! Evolution is such a good journal that publishes studies like these on non model organisms, whereas you see bird/mammal papers of this scope frequently in journals like PNAS…

Wichtig, dass sich konservative Stimmen weiterhin & mit voller Kraft darauf konzentrieren, uns vor „grüner Ideologie“ zu schützen. Rational, zeitgemäß, kann nichts schief gehen. #Hochwasser #Klimakrise

This paper describes a very simple method extending the regime-based model of Brian O'Meara et al. (2006) to discrete traits. It nonetheless may be useful to some. If you're interested, check it out! doi.org/10.1093/jeb/vo…

Marie Curie was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize. This didn't happen because she herself fought for it -- although she did fight hard the whole way to even get to that point. 👩‍🔬 What happened was that the award was offered to her husband, Pierre. (1/n) 🧵

Reminder I'm recruiting a graduate student to join my Paleobiology Research Group at OU lab in fall '25. My lab uses fossils, fieldwork, & phylogenetic methods to study macroevolutionary processes in marine invertebrates, especially echinoderms. Please share & feel free to reach out!

Hope I can organize a turtle symposium at #2025SVP - major obstacle could be that August is my last month of employment. But let’s see how life develops until then 🐢☺️🐢

Our preprint from earlier this year is now reviewed and PCI-recommended. Re-Analysis of (error-corrected) data from Lichtig & Lucas (2017) shows that their method of inferring habitat ecology based on simple shell measurements does not work.
