Alongside colleagues across the UK the GPECS service contributed their data to the outcomes of this report. Very proud of our fantastic primary care led team delivering an excellent and safe service for NI.

An excellent primary care service- consistently delivering

This will massively disadvantage patients in NI. We have the longest wait times in the UK. To cut a service that has consistently performed,reduced pressure on secondary care,is value for money&has demonstrated that it helps with recruitment and retention of GPs is shortsighted

Extremely worrying. Another very successful primary care led service stood down. Where will the 3,500 patients on the waiting list go? Trusts have no capacity. NI to be the only region in the UK without a vasectomy service. Our patients once again disadvantaged.

The burden of family planning will now ultimately fall to women. Not all women can tolerate hormonal contraceptives. The cost of unplanned pregnancies to NHS is significantly greater than the cost of a primary care delivered vasectomy.

We are pleased to welcome back @RobinSwann_MLA as Health Minister. In his 5 year strategy for tackling elective care waiting lists Minister Swann recognised the valuable role GPECS brings to achieving this. We look forward to continuing to support the Minister with this plan
