On a survey of all male surgeons I know, a vast majority of them have partners who work part time:don’t work (I know some who’s partners do, but majority don’t) Of female surgeons I know all their partners work full time Let’s think about what this means for women in surgery?

Cardiothoracic ITU so far is just me being humbled for 8 consecutive hours because I can’t answer the consultant’s questions about the coagulation cascade

Today, on the Platinum Jubilee, I’m thinking of the 72 people who died at Grenfell. I’m thinking of the people shaking with the fear of being deported to Rwanda in two weeks’ time. I’m thinking of

Europe is on fire, meanwhile Kylie Jenner is taking 15 minute trips in her private jet. I could recycle everything, buy all my clothes second hand, compost and grow my own food for the rest of my life and it wouldn’t even begin to offset the footprint from one of her flights.

This email suggest that medical students, who pay tuition fees, should work for free in the holiday period to undermine striking healthcare workers, because it will be "interesting". Shockingly poor.

For anyone who isn't a medic looking at these graphs (and crucial that the general public knows this) - the orange line remaining flat is why it takes many months to see a specialist doctor. The govt can bleat all they like about training more doctors - but posts are static

Junior doctors have voted YES to strike action in England. This is a giant step forward for junior doctors and #PayRestoration. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard for this. Keep an eye out for next steps. #BMADoctorsVoteYes bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/…

this bma messaging really highlights the rampant classism woven into the fabric of medical culture and the fact that many doctors have no interest in worker liberation or solidarity - they’re just annoyed we can’t give ourselves raises like bankers do

🚨 It's crazy that the NHS has told 350 doctors training in anaesthesia that the NHS has no job for them after 3 years training. At the same time we have massive shortages of, you guessed it, anaesthetists. These self-defeating bottlenecks defy logic. Statement from Royal College of Anaesthetists

The only thing I want to come out of any of these discussions is if someone makes the decision to short-staff a shift (whether they're a manager, clinician, or whomever), that they take responsibility in the event that things go wrong due to overworked clinical teams
