Thu 9/10: Westerly gales Scottish mountains, strongest toward north, severe high tops, but widely very gusty. Windy also for N Eng, lower speeds south across Wales. Low cloud covering most W hills, lowest/most persistent SW Scot southwards, some drizzle. Clearer, some sun E Scot.

Thu 16/10: Higher mountain tops particularly in southern half of Highlands remain above an inversion; low-level cloud rising, locally thinning gradually. Further N-NW, cloud will cloak upper slopes. In Lakes & Snowdonia, very highest summits also near/just above the cloud-top.

Fri 17/10: Varied areas low cloud/fog in morning, some highest tops just poking above inversion, mainly SW-central Highlands, possibly Snowdon & Lakes tops. Cloud tending to rise, breaks locally. Thicker cloud layer N/E Highlands, local drizzle. SE'ly breeze starting to increase.

Sat 18/10: Breezy south-southeasterly winds, strongest and gustiest in west. Areas of low cloud on hill slopes and fog in some valleys from dawn. Cloud tends to rise and break, but persisting on some south-facing hills. Better northwards across the Highlands. #mwis

Mon 20/10: Much of the Highlands dry all day with light winds; varied banks of cloud may linger. Local showers near west coast. Bursts of rain for Wales, more persistent south, extend increasingly into Peak Dist. Local showers possible N Eng & S Scot, areas of cloud over hills.
