The Edith Cadbury Nursery was built in 1939 in memory of Edith Cadbury (wife of George Cadbury Junior). Edith was a pioneer of the nursery movement, + these wonderful photos show the nursery in its early years. The nursery still operates and is based in Weoley Castle, Birmingham

This week I return to women in allied trades, focusing on Birmingham Photographic Case manufacturer Mrs Isabella Clarke. Early Daguerreotype photographs were presented in a protective case and, to make these, Mrs Clarke employed 12 women according to the 1861 census. 1/2
