"If there's no unity, there's no community" - Mr Handsworth, Hector Pinkney MBE Last Friday, Makki Masjid Trust, Iqra Academy Birmingham, Soho Road BID and Crick Gardens CIC came together to plant flowers on Soho Road.

This is exactly what we are fighting on Soho Road. Companies who want to open a bookies may mislead the council and profit from the most vulnerable. We have already rejected one and we are in the process of fighting another. theguardian.com/society/2025/m…

Recently a small group of us did a litter pick in the local community - a big shoutout to residents on Oxhill Road and Nina who heads up Friends of Friary Road, who litter pick their local area every Saturday morning!

These ceramic tiles are breathtaking. 😍 The Craven Arms in Birmingham, designed between 1906 and 1910, is decorated with moulded and glazed ceramic tiles. A pub had existed on the corner of Upper Gough Street and Blucher Street since at least the 1840s.

Well, Paradise Birmingham have really hit the mark with this one, the new lighting on Three Chamberlain Square looks incredible, such a welcoming warm glow. It’s a 10/10 from me 👏🏾

I’m a proud governor at St Michael’s Primary School in Handsworth which has been transformed by its leadership and staff. I’m stood in their urban farm at the school which is used to teach pupils how to care, play and show appreciation for animals. ❤️

If you are or have been a volunteer working on Birmingham's canals we thank you. The city can make so much of its canals as proved by our #LookUpBirmingham campaign but it needs people to help. Coming soon in our interactive map, canals take pride of place. Photo Daniel Sturley

Question: can a garage park its half destroyed and dangerous cars on the public pavement? They are there constantly and block the pavement between multiple schools, homes, workplaces and a tram stop. Absolutely horrible. What can be done?

I was recently invited by National Voices, the leading coalition for health and social care charities, to speak about our work at Taraki 🌞 to a group of early career professionals in the health and social care charity sector.

🚨 A planning application is in to turn 13 Soho Road into an 'aparthotel' — likely used for supported accommodation. Your voice matters. 📣 📝 Have your say now by responding to the planning application - please click below ⬇️ shuranjeet.com

📚 I was contacted by a local school who said that a large bin was overflowing outside their main gates. The bin was horrible and was surrounded by needles. ✍🏽 I contacted the council who said it belonged to a supported accommodation. 🚮 2 days later the bin was removed.

🗣️ I've been out speaking with residents about a new HMO planning application which would open by 3 schools and a nursery. ❌ As you can imagine people do not want it opened. 😱 10 years ago someone was beheaded in the accommodation next door which still runs to this day...

Really glad we got coverage of our community campaign in the Birmingham Mail - many residents and local stakeholders don't want this 'aparthotel' which we believe will likely be used as a 21 person HMO. Read more: birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…
