The EMBL Imaging Centre has kickstarted its on-site training activities. A workshop for undergraduates introduced students to the basics of electron microscopy. It marks the first of many opportunities to build capacity in imaging technologies in Europe. embl.org/news/lab-matte…

This is a really important survey - not only for the much-needed data it will generate (necessary to build a realistic picture of the research ecosystem in India today), but also for the many places where it directly asks for actionable suggestions from the community. 1/

From the article: “I applied the same leadership principles to every part of my life. I tend to be very horizontal in my approach. I don’t think of my lab members as working for me; I’m working with them. I can’t do it any other way.” ft.com/content/d14f42…

Happy to see our study on PNN dissolution with chronic electroconvulsive seizure in rat models published - this one is extra special as it was a collaboration with my late advisor Prof. Ron Duman Shreya Ghosh Minal Balaganesh Janakiraman Ashmita Chatterjee doi.org/10.1093/ijnp/p…

Incredible seeing this paper come out - kudos to the whole team and big thanks to Vidita Vaidya. I still remember the day Minal and I first looked at the WFA-stained sections under the microscope and were flabbergasted at the near-complete absence of hpc PNNs post-ECS.

“Those with privilege get to participate in cultural change on whatever terms they want. They can engage, they can disengage, they can walk into a talk on equity and diversity and, if they don’t like it, they can walk right back out, they have that luxury.” physics.aps.org/articles/v16/3…

One of the books I'm most eagerly looking forward to this year. Aashima and Nandita J have spent seven years engaging in crucial conversations about the visibility & status of various minorities in Indian science. Impossible to overstate the importance of these insights.

For all the women scientists, THANK YOU to this amazing young female researcher who stood her ground in front of a Nobel prize laureate and the moderator and called them out on how the level of discrimination in science between men and women is nothing alike. #WomenInSTEM
