@kelkoogroup ICOMP voices Margrethe Vestager Umberto GAMBINI 🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺🇮🇹🇪🇺 The Consumer Voice And then there’s the small matter (barely worth mentioning really) that those clicks cost rivals ~80% of their profit while Google’s clicks cost them nothing...oh...and in an anti-competitive double-whammy that ~80% of rivals’ profits goes to Google. foundem.co.uk/fmedia/Foundem…

@kelkoogroup ICOMP voices Margrethe Vestager Umberto GAMBINI 🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺🇮🇹🇪🇺 The Consumer Voice In other words, a click on Google Shopping earns Google 100% of the profit while a click on a rival earns Google ~80% of the profit. So, even if rivals were being clicked on 100% of the time, Google’s auction-based non-remedy would still be 100% non-compliant.

Here, the BBC is confusing and conflating “life before the Web/Internet” with “life before Google”. That’s handy on a day Google is fined $5 billion for anti-competitive practices. #Google #Antitrust bbc.com/news/world-448…

Prediction 1: Google will use the summer break to cultivate as many of these Ad-Agencies-Posing-as-CSSs as possible. Prediction 2: This cynical strategy will fail to provide the desired outcome: the illusion of a functioning remedy. EU Competition econsultancy.com/blog/70209-goo…

One of the most disturbing aspects of this whole #NewAmerica / #Google story is the repeated use of the word "ouster" instead of "ousting". x.com/artistrightsno…

This Sunday's NYT Magazine cover story entitled "The Case Against Google" has struck such a nerve that Google is paying to promote tweets at reporters in an attempt to discredit it. @CDuhigg's piece is a must-read: nytimes.com/2018/02/20/mag… ...A thread on the anatomy of Google's spin:

Nicholas Hirst The headline is misleading as Margrethe Vestager and her team did a good job on the prohibition decision, much better than Joaquin Almunia. The problem is Google and the way they are trying to address Margrethe Vestager decision. The Remedy is not working!!! x.com/nicholashirst_…

Our interactive presentation debunks Google Shopping’s meaningless “bids” and promise to run at a notional “profit” to reveal that Google’s “remedy” in the EC Google Search case is not just non-compliant, it’s exactly the same as 4 yrs ago. #antitrust foundem.co.uk/fmedia/Foundem…

4/ Why Google’s promise to run Google Shopping at a notional “profit” sounds reassuring, but is also essentially meaningless... See the full presentation here: foundem.co.uk/fmedia/Foundem…
