Thanks to @ShipleySchool Academic Dean Patty Lein for leading us in our discussion of @RonRitchhart's Creating Cultures of Thinking from Project Zero. Lots to consider as we put student thinking at the forefront of the learning experience.

.@ShipleySchool History teacher and Penn GSE Fellow Caroline Ingram led a Learning Bites session on practitioner inquiry. Thanks for merging theory and practice for us as you inspire students to use critical thinking skills to link historical events of then and now.

thank you to Ace Schwarz (they/them) and @SeanBuildsMinds for sharing their experiences at the National Science Teaching Association virtual miniseries "what is social justice teaching in the science classroom?" in our department meeting today. I'm ready to sign up for the June session of the same series.

This week I watched my students host focus groups where they facilitated discussion of socioscientific issues. I learned so much about how they understand the topic and how the public can engage with science! #iteachphysics #iteachinterdisciplinarystudies

The sooner that students adopt retrieval practice as part of their study strategy repertoire, and teachers do the same as part of their teaching repertoire, the sooner they can reap the rewards of more efficient and more effective long-term learning. @PoojaAgarwal @RetrieveLearn

In the same way teachers don't expect students to master sophisticated practices or develop deep understandings after a single workshop, effective professional development takes time. Leveraging What We Know for Better PD: bit.ly/2O5aZLu

One of my 2nd grade students told me today that when he grows up, he wants to be a game designer and when he has his successful business, he's going to tell people that it is all thanks to me for introducing him to coding. Made my year! Code.org @ShipleySchool
