Hello @menloparkschool community! Our @littlefreelibrary corner book box is stocked with gently used and much loved kids books that are yours to keep and pass on. If you are on a walk/bike ride help yourself to a book. #shinebrightedison

Unpopular opinion of the day: Requiring reading logs documenting how many minutes or pages young people read is more about compliance and exerting control than "motivating" readers or "proving" any reading occurred.

I just bought this book called Just Ask by Sonia Sotomayor and I think it’s my new favorite book!!! Such a great inclusive story about differently able kids use their strengths to work together. I highly recommend all teachers to get this book for their classroom libraries! πŸ₯°

Requiring children to choose books at a particular "level" for independent reading often denies them intellectual and social/cultural access AND the right to self-direct their reading lives. More cons than pros. #nerdybookclub

I can FINALLY announce that FISH IN A TREE will be a movie! AND I’m going to make an appearance on film; that will be wild! LOVE the script; the characters have remained who they are in the book. I’m not allowed to release studio or actor details yet but that is coming! πŸŽ₯ 🍿

Re-tweet if you think every state should seek a waiver from standardized testing mandates during this pandemic. Let's focus on our children's mental health and use the time to narrow the achievement gap across racial, socio-economic and ethnic lines. washingtonpost.com/education/2021…
