The accusation that Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza — likely hundreds, maybe even thousands — has become all but undeniable. Even Israel’s supporters, those who defended or withstood this publicly broadcast nightmare for 19 months, have reached some semblance of a limit.

The problem with this appeal to historical justice is that it's being made on behalf of a state that at this very moment is openly slaughtering and starving a captive civilian population that has quite literally nowhere to go.

It's laughable that defenders of Israel's strikes on Iran are justifying them on the basis that they want Muslims to be free. Yet just next door in Gaza, they support war crimes and ethnic cleansing against other Muslims. This is pure gaslighting.

Some of the same figures who pooh-poohed nightmare scenarios from Iraq are doing the same exact thing now with respect to Iran. No one in US (or UK) public life ever pays a price for making lousy predictions and spinning overconfident fantasies. So they do it again and again.
