SA bucks the national trend with a 1.5% increase in private investment spending. Still well behind public spending but a good relative sign of a strong overall growth performance.

Jobless rate fell slightly in Aus in Nov - more people working, fewer not. In SA, unemployment rate fell as well, but not because more people are working, but because people left the labour market. Participation rates fell 0.7% versus 0.1% nationally FIVEAA ABC Adelaide

Rising Unempl not all good (inflation) news as participation rates rise and underemployment falls with SA seeing the largest drop in those looking for more work.

Not much change in employment numbers. In SA the # people working as a share of those in the workforce 👇but the unempl rate also 👇 - that's because the number of people participating fell.

No wonder they kept the calculations under such secrecy. If this had been released in advance, it would’ve attracted boundless derision

88% of the variance in bilateral trade imbalances is not due to asymmetric trade costs (e.g., tariffs, NTBs, etc.). Thus, it is perhaps not correct/fair to use bilateral trade imbalance to calculate asymmetric trade costs. cepr.org/voxeu/columns/… VoxEU

Trump's tariffs? No one was asking for any of this. A recent Gallup poll found that 81% of Americans surveyed believe trade is a growth opportunity—the highest since the poll began in 1992—and only 14% view trade as an economic threat. by Douglas Irwin economist.com/by-invitation/…

Whatever the spin, lower tariffs are a big win for American businesses and consumers. While 30% is still high, it’s a level that should still allow some trade.
