Writing is the most important skill you can build. Writing improves your thinking. Writing sharpens your articulation. Writing strengthens your creativity. Writing grows your sphere of influence. Make writing a non-negotiable part of your day.

Suicidologists & other interested folks, the YRBS* data are GONE. I was on the site last night & marveled it still said the 2023 YRBS included trans youth for the first time. I hope it’s just a glitch. I fear it’s not. (h/t Jonathan Singer 🎙️) *Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance

Do you try to cheer someone up or encourage them to stay positive when they’re down? Your intentions are good, but you might be missing a precious opportunity to listen and help. speakingofsuicide.com/2025/02/03/tox…

I’m worried. The rapid collapse of longstanding institutions in the U.S. and beyond can affect people’s mental health. I fear suicide rates could increase, and let me tell you: I hope I’m wrong!

These are dark times for many. This new blog post delves into reasons why many people with suicidal thoughts don’t act on them. Some of people’s reasons for living might surprise you, like masturbation, and spite! speakingofsuicide.com/2025/02/09/sta…

This week’s suicidology conference #AAS25 is profoundly special for me. I’m a keynote speaker, which is already special. Also, it’s the 20-year conference-versary w/my husband Pete, a fellow suicidologist.❤️

Stacey Freedenthal reminds us of the power of hope, connection, and action. Right now, we need to call on radical hope to help us be curious, humble, and creative -- envisioning a goodness in the future that we can't fully understand. American Association of Suicidology #AAS25
